Fresh intel suggests the Star Wars gaming landscape is shaping up quite differently than some fans might have hoped. According to recent reports, Respawn’s next entry in the Jedi saga is already well into development, while the long-awaited Battlefront III hasn’t even officially begun production. This timeline gives us a clearer picture of EA’s current priorities for Star Wars gaming.

For Jedi fans, this is genuinely exciting news. The momentum from Survivor’s strong reception appears to be carrying forward into what could be an even more ambitious sequel. Having a project this far along suggests we might see it within a reasonable timeframe—though patience will still be required. The franchise has built considerable goodwill with players who’ve connected with Cal Kestis’s story, so advancing development on this front makes strategic sense.

For Battlefront enthusiasts, however, this is tougher to swallow. The multiplayer community has been waiting years for a proper successor to Battlefront II, and learning that Battlefront III hasn’t entered active development yet means don’t expect an announcement anytime soon. EA appears to be prioritizing single-player, story-driven experiences over large-scale multiplayer for the moment—a notable shift in their Star Wars strategy.

The takeaway? Jedi fans should remain optimistic about upcoming reveals, while Battlefront players may need to temper expectations for the near future. EA’s development roadmap clearly favors narrative-focused projects right now, which could speak volumes about where the publisher sees the franchise’s value.
