Finally, some good news! According to RockPaperShotgun.com, Obsidian Entertainment (the makers of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2!) have stated that they are pitching new idea’s to LucasArts and Disney on a brand new Star Wars role playing game set between Episodes III and IV.

“We pitched a between-Episode III and Episode IV game [to LucasArts]. Because we think that timeframe is super interesting. It’s the fall of the Republic, the extermination of the Jedi, it’s Obi-Wan going off and making sure Luke is OK. You have the Sith, but you have the extermination of all Force users except for very, very few. So it was an interesting time to set a game, and you know, Chris Avellone came up with a really cool story.”

“We also latched onto it because it has elements people remember, but not the stories. It can just completely not involve [the movies]. It can tease them, but nothing else.”

“It’s something we’re still hoping for, even with the Disney/Lucas stuff going on,” he said. “It changes things a lot, but you know, we’re gonna push on it. I would say it’s within the top three pitches we’ve ever come up with. We really worked on it hard and distilled it down to these eight or ten pages that really sold the story and characters. Then we sold it off to LucasArts and got a call back later that day. They were like, ‘This seems really cool. We want to talk to you guys, like, tomorrow about it.’”

“We haven’t [talked with Disney yet]. We’re kind of waiting for the smoke to clear. But that’s one of my next big things to do. To kind of go over there and [get the ball rolling again].”

I would absolutely love a Knights of the Old Republic theme or something similar using the same game dynamics. I still believe that we got robbed with The Old Republic, not that it’s a bad game or anything as I’m sure there are still quite a few people who enjoy it, but the game just wasn’t for me. I would have enjoyed an offline single player RPG rather then the MMORPG.

Something like this may keep me going until LucasArts gets rolling and starts producing Battlefront 3!

What are your thoughts on Obsidian pitching these new ideas? What are your ideas on a new Star Wars RPG set between Episodes III and IV?

I have nothing against Obsidion. KOTOR was an excellent game. But it had no real replay value. I’m interested in seeing what they are bringing to the table. But I would like to sed sonething from Bethesda. Imagine what they could do for the franchise. The original look of a “used” galaxy with multiple twists and indepth characters with multiple layers of their own agendas. It wouldne an Epic.

I know this isn’t swbf3 news but a team is developing a cryengine 3 mod set in the starwars universe and is heavily inspired by swbf2 it’s still in development but it looks like it could be the next best thing to an official swbf3 ( the mod is called starwars battlecry I would post a link but i wasn’t sure if that would be allowed on this website )
